Reform Working Group

In 2007, there was a battle on the election of the new president for the European Parliament. A Reform Working Group was established after the election. It presented more interim reports with proposals for reforms of the Parliament.

The final report was published in April 2009 and propose e.g. reforms of the plenary meetings and to insert the roles of coordinatorsrapporteurs and shadow rapporteurs in the rules.

The working group held 37 meetings including 3 seminars. They also went on a study tour to the American Congress in Washington. 

The group was led by Dagmar Roth-Behrend from German SPD and included three group leaders, Graham WatsonMonica Frassoni and Jens-Peter Bonde. The group established 100 reform proposals. 80 was accepted.
