Member of the European Parliament with the Independence and Democracy Group (Ind/Dem), formerly the EDD Group.  Treasurer of the Ind/Dem Group since 2004.

MEP since 1994 for the Christian Union and SGP in the Netherlands. Former co-chair of the Europe of Nations Group in the EU Parliament until 1999. Co-chair of the EDD Group between 1999 and 2004.
