Situation Centre, Sitcen/IntCen

An intelligence agency first being developed under the leadership of the High representative Javier Solana, now under the leadership of the Union High representative.

It was renamed IntCen after SitCen in 2012. Int is the abbreviation for Intelligence.

The agency is based in Brussels and works on a 24 hour base to collect and analyse information about possible crises where the EU would or could play a role.

The SitCen has also started to have own representatives where the EU has military engagements.

Its first task was to gather intelligence for the first EU military mission in Macedonia.
Has 70 employees according to an answer in the European Parliament,
