Solana, Javier (1942 - )

Solana was the Secretary General of the Council and the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy. He was also the Secretary General of the Western European Union, now being practically dissolved. S&D.

He was first Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, position created in the rejected Constitution. With the Lisbon Treaty from 2009 he was replaced by Baroness Ashton as Union High Representative - read foreign minister as all media writes.

Solana is a former Spanish foreign minister, elected for the Spanish party PSOE and former Secretary-General of NATO.
