Solana, Javier (1942 - )

Solana is the Secretary General of the Council and the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy. He is also the Secretary General of the Western European Union, now being practically dissolved. PES.

He has been appointed Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, position created in the rejected Constitution. With the Lisbon Treaty he will not have the title as foreign minister but stay as high representative. He will also be the vice president of the Commission and head the common foreign diplomacy being built.

Notes

Solana is a former Spanish foreign minister, elected for the Spanish party PSOE and former Secretary-General of NATO.
