GUE/NGL Group

The leftist and communist group in the European Parliament is called the United Left Group - GUE/NGL - the Nordic Green Left. It is composed of traditional communist parties, reformed socialist parties and associated left wing forces.
In July 2009 the group elected Lothar Bisky from the German Die Linke as its president after the French communist, Francis Wurtz.
