Kroes, Neelie (1941 - )

Kroes, Neelie (Photo: www.forbes.com/lists/2006/11/06women_Neelie-K.)

A vice-president in the Commission and Commissioner for Digital Agenda, a Liberal from the Netherlands.

In the Barroso I Commission (2004-2009) Neelie Kroes served as Commissioner responsible for competition. Came under fire on her appointment for the first Barroso Commission because she had been a managing director or had served on the boards of firms for which she now had responsibility as a commissioner. Barroso had to promise to refer matters to other Commissioners when Neelie Kroes was deemed unfit to act. ALDE.
