Partnership for PeaceĀ 

A NATO initiative of 1994 to involve the countries of Eastern and Central Europe in defence talks before their membership of NATO became possible, and for other countries wishing to co-operate with NATO.

On 16 June 2003, four years after the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, its successor state, Serbia-Montenegro, applied for participation in the Partnership for Peace programme.
