Lamassoure, Alain (1944 - )

MEP and rapporteur for the ConstitutionalAffairs Committee,  for which hewrote a report on the division of competences which underlies the EU Constitution. Lamassoure was a member of the Convention on the Future of Europe and was oneof the leaders of a campaign advocating referenda on the new Constitution inall EU Member States, and also for having rules on direct democracy inscribedinto the Constitution.

A Former French Minister for Europe, he hasbeen a member of the EU Parliament’s Christian Democrat Group (EPP)from 1989-93 and again since 1999. Elected for the French party, UMP.
