European Regional Development Fund, ERDF
European Regional Development Fund, ERDF
The European Regional Development Fund was established in 1975 as one of the European Structural Funds together with the European Social Fund to support infrastructure projects in poorer regions of the EU.
Notes
- As the membership of the EU has grown, the ERDF has developed into a major tool for helping to reduce regional differences within the Community.
- It does so by aiding the development and structural adjustment of regions whose development is lagging behind, and by the economic and social conversion of regions.
- The fund spent 109,6 billion Euro in 2006.
