Georgieva, Kristalina (1953 - )
Bulgarian economist serving as European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response in the Barroso II Commission.
Rumiana Jeleva was the first Bulgarian nominee for the post, but she withdrew after she failed to answer questions about allegations over her financial interests under the Commission hearings in the European Parliament. Kristalina Georgieva was then proposed as Bulgarian Commissioner.
