Bulgaria has a population of 7.61 million and an area of 111,000 km².

Joined the EU 1 January 2007. Has had a Europe agreement since 1995.

Bulgaria has 10 out of 345 votes in the Council and 17 seats in the European Parliament.  

From 1 November 2014 the Lisbon Treaty will reduce the Bugarian share of the vote in the Council of Ministers from 2.9% today to 1.52%.
