Conservatives, ECR Group
The third biggest group in the European Parliament is the European Conservatve Group, ECR, who elected the British Conservative Syed Kamall as their leader in 2014 after Martin Callanan.
British, Danish and Spanish conservatives previously had a joint conservative group in the European Parliament called the European Democrats. Until July 2009 the conservative parties were united with the Christian Democrats in the EPP/ED Group.
The "ED" stood for European Democrats. British conservatives established a new Eurosceptic conservative group after the elections in 2009. Its name is European Conservatives and Reformists, ECR.
