Concern regarding the potential risks of chemicals, and in particular existing chemicals, is rising in the EU.

The EU legislators finalized the process of creating a new chemicals policy for Europe in December 2006. REACH will officially enter into force on 1 June 2007. REACH will make sure that the around 100.000 chemicals at the European market are registered and the most dangerous are substituted with less dangerous chemicals.
