Barrot Jacques (1937 - )

New French commissioner since April 2004, in charge of Justice, Freedom and Security. He has been nominated to replace Michel Barnier, who at the time became minister for foreign affairs in France. 

He is a member of the UMP, the new political group founded by Jacques Chirac. 

Notes 

Former minister for the environment and former State Secretary. Jacques Barrot has been elected a Member of Parliament for the first time in 1967. He has also been in charge of several ministerial portfolios.
