Barrot Jacques (1937 - )

French commissioner from April 2004-2010, with different portfolios including Justice, Freedom and Security. He was nominated to replace Michel Barnier, who at the time became minister for foreign affairs in France. 

He  was a member of the UMP, the political group founded by Jacques Chirac. 

Notes 

Former minister for the environment and former State Secretary. Jacques Barrot was elected a Member of Parliament for the first time in 1967. He has also been in charge of several ministerial portfolios.
