Buitenen, Paul van (1957 - )

Dutch civil servant in the EU Commission, who in 1998 went to the group leaders in the European Parliament regarding alleged fraud in the EU Commission.
He had tried to change the system from inside but was prevented. Subsequently he became the first of a line of famous EU "whistleblowers".
In 2004 he was elected to the European Parliament on the basis of his own political list in The Netherlands.
