Bosnia-Herzegovina

Bosnia-Herzegovina has a population of 3.483 million and covers an area of 51,200 km2.

The Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP) was adopted in 1999 and might lead to a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA). The Feira European Council stated in 2000 that all the countries covered by the SAP are potential candidates for EU membership.

The Copenhagen Summit in December 2002 decided that the EU should take over the Police Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina from the United Nations from 1 January 2003.
