Border police

Five member states have started to patrol against illegal immigration by sea in the Mediterranean and Atlantic as a pilot project for a future common border police.

The EU established the agency Frontex for border control in Poland in 2004. In 2006, the EU established a common EU coastguard against illegal refugees in the Canary Islands
