Tourism
Tourism was not mentioned as an EU competence in the previous treaties. However, in 2001 the Commission presented a communication on “Working together for the future of European tourism”.
The Lisbon Treaty classifies tourism - as a new explicit Union competence- as a "supporting, coordinating and complementary action".
