Tourism

Tourism is not mentioned as an EU power (competence) in the existing treaties. However, in 2001 the Commission presented a communication on “Working together for the future of European tourism”.

Future

The Lisbon Treaty classifies tourism - as a new explicit Union competence- as a "supporting, coordinating and complementary action". See art. 6.d TFEU and 195 TFEU.
