Tindemans report
A report from 1975, written by the former Belgian prime minister Leo Tindemans. It contained proposals for direct elections to the European Parliament and other integration proposals which have since been accepted, for example, the Monetary Union and the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Tindemans was elected to the European Parliament for the Belgian CVP party. He chaired the Christian-Democrat Group in the Parliament from 1994-97.
He also chaired a working group establishing five different scenarios for the future of Europe. The resultant book is published in many official EU languages. EPP.
Leo Tindemans died in December 2014, 92 years old.
