Sweden has a population of 9.05 million and an area of 450,000 km².

It joined the EU in 1995. After the enlargement of the EU 1st May 2004, Sweden has 10 votes out of 345 in the Council and 19 seats out of 785 in the EU Parliament.

For Sweden, the Lisbon Treaty foresees 20 seats in the European Parliament (19 seats today) and a weight of 1.84 % (Sweden´s EU population) of its votes in the Council (as against 2.9 % today)

Sweden voted "No" to the Euro September 28th, 2003.
