Slovakia
Slovakia became an EU member state on 1 May 2004. At the referendum on EU membership on 16/17 May 2003 92.4 per cent of the voters supported their country joining the EU. Has had a Europe Agreement since 1995 and entered into Accession Partnership in 1998.
Slovakia became an independent state in 1993 when Czechoslovakia was divided into two parts.
