Belgium has a population of 10.75 million and an area of 30,500 km2. It was one of the original EEC member states.
Belgium has 12 votes out of 345 in the Council and 22 seats out of 736 seats in the European Parliament.
From 1 November 2014 the Lisbon Treaty will reduce the Belgian share of the vote in the Council of Ministers from 3.5% today to 2.15%.
