Public prosecutor
A prosecutor is an official who brings charges for alleged crimes before the Courts.
The Lisbon Treaty establish the legal base for a common poublic prosecutor to combat serious crimes affecting more than one member state, or offences against the Union´s financial interests.
The prosecutor must de decided unanimously. See the Art. 86 TFEU for the "European Public Prosecutor`s Office".
The Commission has drafted a proposal. The national parliaments have rejected it in the subsidiarity procedure. The Commission upheld its proposal - outcome unknown in 2014.
