Audio-visual policy

The EU runs protectionist policies with regard to the importation of US films. There are quotas for European films on TV, agreed through common directives with the aim of supporting  the European film and TV industries. New countries  joining the EU mustreplace national quotas on  films and TV  programmes with EU quotas.
