League of Nations
The international co-operation platform between states in the years between the two world wars. A forerunner of the United Nations.
The founder of the EU, Jean Monnet, was employed as a civil servant in the League of Nations. He saw the limits of international cooperation and invented the idea of a supra-national cooperation in Europe.
