Greece has a population of 11.26 million and an area of 132,000 km2. It joined the EU in 1981.
After the first enlargement in 2004, it has 12 votes out of 321 in the Council and since 2009 22 seats out of 736 in the European Parliament.
From 2014 the Lisbon Treaty will reduce the Greek share of the votes in the Council of Ministers from 3.5% today to 2.25 % which is the Greek share of the EU population.
