Greece has a population of 11.13 million and an area of 132,000 km². It joined the EU in 1981.

After the first enlargement in 2004, it has 12 votes out of 321 in the Council and 24 seats out of 732 in the EU Parliament.

For Greece, the revised EU Constitution foresees 22 seats in the European Parliament (24 seats today) and a weight of 2.26 % (Greece’s EU population) of its votes in the Council (as against 3.48 % today).
