European companies

Rules governing European companies have been negotiated for 30 years. In 2001 a law for European companies was finally adopted. "European companies" can be established with a minimum capital of 120,000 Euro from a minimum of 2 companies in a minimum of 2 countries. A directive laying down the rules for the participation of employees in European companies was adopted in 2001 too and had to be transposed by the member states by 2004.
