De-coupling

Agricultural subsidies often depend on how much is produced. The EU Commission has attempted to detach (de-couple) farm income from previous production so that all farmers receive support according to their amount of land, no mattter how much they produce. This should make production dependent on supply and demand, rather than being linked to product subsidy levels.
