Ashton, Catherine (1956 - )
The British life peer Catherine Ashton, former head of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom, was appointed to the job of EU "foreign minister" at a special summit in Brussels on 19 December 2009. She also became a Vice-President in the Commission until 2014.
