Skytte Christoffersen, Poul (1946 - )
Ambassador for Denmark in Belgium until he retired in 2014. Former Permanent Representative from 1995-2003 and 2009-10 and right hand for Niels Ersbøll during his 14 years as secretary general for the Council until 1994.
Former Chef de Cabinet of the Danish Commissioner, Mariann Fischer Boel.
Prepared the negotiations on EU enlargement to take in 10 central and eastern European countries in 2004 so that they could be concluded at the Copenhagen summit in December 2002.
Was candidate for the post of Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers in 1994, with the backing of 10 of the then 12 member states. The French-German cooperation won the post by two votes "against" ten - proofing the strength of the Franco-German cooperation and the law of gravity.
