Nitrite in organic sausages
Nitrite is a food additive. It can be transformed into nitrosamines, which can cause cancer. A proposed directive on organic food and farming would permit nitrite in organic sausages. The European Parliament rejected the proposal, which is now being negotiated by the Council and Parliament.
