Standards organisations serve the EU and other European nations with common standards.

Standards are decided by a qualified majority according to the EU rules for the EU area.

If a standard is set-up it overrides national laws and can only be amended by another qualified majority decision.

Notes

- CEN is the general organisation in Brussels, “Comité Europeéen de Normalisation”.

CENELEC stands for electric articles.
