Structural funds 

Are designed to achieve economic and social cohesion within the European Union. Part of the EU budget.

These funds are:

• The European Regional Development Fund from 1975
• The European Social Fund created in the Rome Treaty from 1958 
• The Guidance section of the European Agricultural guidance and Guarantee Fund (EAGGF). Was split into a guidance and guarantee sections in 1964 
• The Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) from 1993.
