Consent
The Lisbon Treaty requires a consent from the European Parliament, for example, when new member states have to be approved and the EU must adopt its multiannual financial framework.
These consents are in effect decisions which require an absolute majority of members in the European Parliament.
The same word is also used to refer to the consent of the Commission or the Council when the European Parliament adopts certain rules.
Previously the word consent was called assent, see also the Assent procedure.
