Troika
The Council is often represented by the so-called "Troika" abroad. Before the Treaty of Amsterdam, it consisted of the EU presidency, supported by the previous and next presidencies.
Since the Treaty of Amsterdam, the High Representative supported by the Council's presidency and the EU Commission President have been called the "Troika".
The word Troika is also used for the rolling presidencies in the Council where the actual Presidency always cooperate with the foregoing and the coming Presidency.
