Anti-dumping - shoes

Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson suggested in 2006 imposing a special shoe duties on cheap shoes from China and Vietnam. This so-called anti-dumping duty should be 29.5% for shoes from Vietnam and 23%  on shores from China. 

These countries had  already accepted quotas on their sales of shoes to the EU. China could sell 140 million pairs of shoes, Vietnam 95 million pairs. The Council rejected the Commission's proposal.
