S&D, Socialists and Democrats
S&D is the new abbreviation for the renamed socialist group which fusioned with former Italian members from the liberal group and changed the PSE name.
The new group name is: Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
Martin Schultz from German SPD was re-elected president of the group in July 2009.
