Common Customs Tariff
The EU is a customs union with common tariffs against the rest of the world. The customs rates are decided by a qualified majority in the Council of Ministers but must accord with the rules of the WTO.
Notes
- Importing a bicycle from Japan, for example, requires payment of a 15% customs duty to the EU.
