Kyprianou, Marcos (1960 - )
Foreign minister in Cyprus from 2008.
Former Cyprian commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection (Barroso Commission 2004 - 2009). Former Finance Minister. Marcos Kyprianou studied law in Cambridge and Harvard before taking the political path. Has worked for both the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Has also served in Cyprus' Standing Committee for "Areas close to the demarcation line", which will undoubtedly stand him in good stead when representing the island which still remains divided. Kyprianou shadowed the Michaele Schreyer's Budget portfolio just after Cyprian membership.
