Watt, Dougal
European whistleblower.
Dougal Watt complained to the European Ombudsman, MEPs and court staff of "systematic corruption and abuse in the European Court of Auditors." He was supported by 40% of the Court’s staff in a secret ballot.
Mr. Watt was subsequently sacked from his job at the Court.
The EU's anti-fraud office, Olaf, in its internal investigation into Mr Watt's claims, did not find any "elements sufficient to establish that any fraud or irregularity had been committed by any official or staff of the European Institutions". It closed the case without follow up on 1 July 2003.
